Author's note - We first encountered the Larter connection in the Abbott family history at the end of the last day of a "field trip" to the Suffolk Record office at Bury St. Edmund's. On looking at our collected information when we got home showed that there was much more work to do on the Larters. Searching on familysearch.org with the usual caveats about relying on this as a source gave us an outline family history. I was able to convert this into a more substantial family history after acquiring a copy of the Brundish Parish Records from an online supplier.
David Abbott's wife Jane Larter was born in 1766, in Brundish, Suffolk, the daughter of John Larter (1729 - 1802) and his wife Jane. John was the son of an elder John (born 1703, Mendham, Suffolk, died 1750, Brundish) and his wife Susan Browning (born about 1706 Dennington, Suffolk died 1779 Brundish). They married in Mendham in 1727. The elder John was the son of Thomas larter and his wife Elizabeth. Susan was the daughter of Francis browning and his wife Susan.
