The family of George and Mary Buckroyd

    George was born in St.Peter's Hill in Leeds about 1825 and was baptised at St. Peter's Church. His father died in 1839 leaving George and his siblings living in Park Lane, Leeds with his brothers and sisters at the time of the 1841 census. At the time of the 1851 census he was a warehouseman living at 21 Pimlico Place with siblings William, James and Sarah Ann.

    Later in 1851 George married Mary Ann Eliza Burton, duaghter of John Burton and Catharine Lister. He became a grocer at Reuben Street. Goerge and Mary had two sons and two daughters:-
- Clara Amelia born in Leeds in 1852. She married Robert Hewson Nickson, a painter and paperhanger with whom she had a son and two daughters.
- Hugo was born in Leeds and died in 1932. He was a corn miller's clerk and later a grocery commercial traveller. He married Ellen Spencer with whom he had a son and a daughter.
- Orovida (known as "Vida") was born about 1862 in Leeds and died in 1944 in Wharfedale. She never married.
- Claude Percy, my wife's great grandad was born in Leeds in 1870 and died in Doncaster in 1840. He had been a bottler's engineer but is remembered by my wife's mother as a window cleaner. In 1895 he married Mary Jane Trood. They had two daughters Alice born in 1896 but who died in 1918. The younger sister was Blanche who was born in 1898 and died in 1930.
